Diplomatic Visa (VIDIP) and Official Visa (VISOF)

Your application may be refused or denied if the requirements do not meet the specifications listed on this guide. The Embassy may request additional information if necessary. You may print this guide and tick each item as you gather the requirements.
You must submit all documents to the Embassy of Brazil in Nairobi through the e-Consular system.
Who can apply for a VIDIP/VISOF?
The Diplomatic Visa (VIDIP) applies to the following cases:
a) foreign authorities and officials who have diplomatic status and travel to Brazil on an official mission, whether transitory or permanent, representing a foreign State recognized by the Brazilian Government, as well as their dependents;
b) foreign authorities and officials who have diplomatic status and travel to Brazil on an official mission, whether transitory or permanent, representing an International Organization recognized by the Brazilian Government, as well as their dependents;
c) exceptionally, to certain foreign authorities who have diplomatic status and come to Brazil on an unofficial trip or for tourism, as Heads of State or members of royal families, as well as their dependents.
The Official Visa (VISOF) applies to the following cases:
d) foreign authorities and officials traveling to Brazil on an official, transitory or permanent mission, representing a foreign State recognized by the Brazilian Government, as well as their dependents;
e) foreign authorities and employees who travel to Brazil on an official mission, whether transitory or permanent, representing an International Organization recognized by the Brazilian Government, as well as their dependents;
f) foreigners who travel to Brazil, under official approval, as a student, intern, employee or representative of institutions of recognized economic, cultural or scientific relevance, of international scope.
IMPORTANT: Diplomats and Government Officials from Kenya and Burundi may qualify for a Visa exemption, if travelling to Brazil on an official mission for less than 90 days or, with accreditation, for more than 90 days. Click here for further information.
REQUIREMENTS
a) Visa application form, signed and with passport-sized photo attached (click here for instructions);
b) Passport, valid for a minimum of six months after planned arrival in Brazil. Passport must have at least two blank pages;
c) Diplomatic note from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs or Diplomatic Mission from the applicant's country of origin;
d) Any other support documents related to the trip.
Important: The Consular Section may request additional documents at any time during the process.
Once you organize all your documents. You must submit them to the Embassy of Brazil in Nairobi through the e-Consular system.
