BREEZE: Showcasing Contemporary Brazilian Art during Frieze London
BREEZE 2023 "False Symmetry, by Osvaldo Carvalho" - Sala Brasil, Embassy of Brazil
London – BREEZE (www.artbreeze.info), an initiative by the Embassy of Brazil in London in partnership with ABACT (Brazilian Association of Contemporary Art) and Latitute – Platform for Brazilian Art Galleries Abroad, aims to promote contemporary Brazilian art in international markets. Breeze offers a unique opportunity for Brazilian galleries to hold an exhibition in the heart of London during the peak of the UK's art market season.
This annual programme, overseen by BREEZE, invites applications from leading Brazilian galleries affiliated with ABACT. The selected exhibition project will have the opportunity to be featured during Frieze London, one of the world’s most influential contemporary art fairs. The chosen gallery will enjoy up to six weeks of prominence, including London Frieze Week, with financial support for production in a generous 250-square-meter gallery space at Sala Brasil, the Embassy of Brazil's main cultural venue.
Individual artists or organisations wishing to take part are encouraged to submit their proposals through any ABACT member gallery (abact.com.br/associados), as they must always be the primary applicant.
The winning applicant will enjoy a comprehensive array of benefits, including:
- Financial support of £4,000 (approximately R$ 25,000) from the Embassy of Brazil in London / Instituto Guimarães Rosa, plus an additional £4,000 from ABACT / Latitute.
- Exclusive exhibition space in London throughout the month of October, coinciding with London Frieze Week.
- A prime location within the Embassy of Brazil in London, encompassing 250 square meters within a historic building, located a short distance from Trafalgar Square.
- A prestigious opening event hosted by the Embassy of Brazil in London, attended by distinguished guests from the Embassy's exclusive mailing list.
- Strategic promotion of the exhibition during Frieze week, facilitated by ABACT and the Embassy of Brazil, with invitations extended to key collectors present in London.
- National and international press exposure to amplify the reach and impact of the showcased artworks.
Prospective participants are invited to visit the official BREEZE website for detailed information on the application process and guidelines, available at BREEZE Take Part (www.artbreeze.info/homepage2023/take-part2024). The application deadline has been extended until 29th February 2024.
