The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, through its network of Science, Technology, and Innovation Sections (SECTECs) in embassies and consulates around the world, holds a privileged capacity to collect information, identify opportunities, and conduct analyses of the innovation-promoting environments in which they are embedded.
SECTECs implement activities of the Innovation Diplomacy Program (PDI), guided by three institutional missions: (i) promote Brazil's image as an innovative nation; (ii) foster connections between Brazilian and foreign partners; and (iii) engage agents of Brazilian innovation ecosystems in internationalization processes.
SECTEC Kuala Lumpur
The SECTEC at the Embassy of Brazil in Kuala Lumpur aims to project the potential of Brazil's science, technology, and innovation system in Malaysia and to seek opportunities for bilateral international technological cooperation.
To present technological promotion opportunities in the Malaysian market to the Brazilian public, SECTEC Kuala Lumpur developed the "Mapping of Innovation-Promoting Environments in Kuala Lumpur." This document, published by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as part of the series "Mapping of Innovation-Promoting Environments Abroad," includes intelligence studies of various markets.
As a result of the Kuala Lumpur Mapping and as part of the "Innovation Sessions: Brazil-ASEAN," the Embassy in Kuala Lumpur held a webinar on semiconductors on October 5, 2023: "Brazil-ASEAN and Semiconductors: Unveiling Global South Synergies" (access the concept note and watch the entire event on the Embassy's YouTube channel).
Following the established dialogue, Brazil will participate for the first time in May 2024 in SEMICON SEA, the largest event in the sector in Southeast Asia. The country's delegation will include representatives from the government, the private sector, and research and development (R&D) institutions.
