Visitor's Visa
General Information
Citizens of Kuwait, Bahrain, Oman, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, India, Lebanon, Pakistan, Palestine and Syria need a visa to visit Brazil on tourism or on business.
Citizens of the UAE, Qatar and the Philippines do not need a visa to visit Brazil on tourism or on business.
For all other nationalities, please check the Entry Visa Chart. Brazil requires visas based on reciprocity.
A Visitor’s Visa may be granted to foreign nationals who intend to travel to Brazil on tourism, on business (meetings, corporate fairs and events, seeking commercial opportunities, signing contracts), for non-corporate events (conferences, seminars, cultural events), journalistic coverage and news reporting and a few other purposes. It allows for a stay of up to 90 days and must be applied for at a Brazilian Embassy or Consulate.
If your trip has another purpose, please contact the Embassy and ask what type of visa you should apply for.
Step by Step Guide
The following is a step-by-step guide for applying for a Visitor’s Visa:
1) For each applicant, collect the following documents to prepare your application:
a) Valid and undamaged passport containing at least two blank visa pages. Passport must be valid for at least 6 months from date of application.
b) Our pre-application form (download it here). In case of family trip, only one pre-application form is needed.
c) One 5x4cm photo with front view, full face and white background.
d) Salary Certificate in English or equivalent document in case of employer, dated less than one month.
e) Bank statement of the salary account for the last three months prior to date of application, issued or stamped by the bank. In the case of employer, investment account’s statements are acceptable.
f) Hotel and return air ticket reservations (if you will be lodged at a friend’s or with family, a recent original notarized invitation letter signed by the host is acceptable).
g) Civil ID, for non-Kuwaitis.
h) Travel insurance valid for the period of stay in Brazil.
i) If the purpose of the trip is business or to attend a conference: original invitation letter from a Brazilian sponsor (a company or event organizer). The letter must have been notarized in Brazil. Alternatively, a letter from the employing company in Kuwait may be presented, on company letterhead, informing full name and position of the employee who is applying and stating that it will bear all costs related to the trip. If the invitation letter or company letter states that the sponsor/company will bear all costs, no bank statement is necessary.
j) If an applicant is under 18 years of age: written consent from both parents, who must sign it in front of the Brazilian Consular Authority. An official document proving parentage must be presented for inspection.
2) For each applicant, fill out the Online Application Form. You can choose your language on the upper right corner. Click “Visa” to start (not “e-Visa”).
a) You will be asked to upload your photo (front facing, full face, 5x4 cm, white background) and your signature. If the traveler is underage, upload both parents’ signature instead of the minor’s.
b) You will be asked to upload supporting documents. Please upload copies of the salary certificate, hotel and air reservations, Civil ID (for non-Kuwaitis) and travel insurance. Also upload company letter or sponsor’s invitation, if this is a business trip. Application will not be accepted if documents are not uploaded.
c) When you have completed filling out the online form, click "Complete Application". A Receipt is generated. Print the Receipt. It has boxes for signature and photo. Sign and attach your photo in the appropriate boxes.
3) Pay the visa processing fee of KWD 32 (thirty-two Kuwaiti dinars) to the following bank account:
Bank: NBK – National Bank of Kuwait
Account name: Brazilian Embassy – Renda Consular in KWD (Kuwaiti Dinar)
Account number: 1003720037
IBAN – KW94NBOK0000000000001003720037
SWIFT Code (BIC): NBOKKWKW
a) Please print the corresponding deposit or transfer receipt after payment.
b) If more than one person is applying (ex. a couple, or parents and children), the fees can be paid together and only one receipt printed.
c) Please note the visa processing fee is non-refundable, even if the visa is not granted.
d) Nationals of Algeria, Angola, Australia, China and the United States will be charged different fees, due to reciprocity. Please contact the Consular Section for further information.
4) Bring the Application Receipt (Step 2), the payment receipt (Step 3) and the documents you have collected (Step 1). No need to schedule an appointment (but mind the business hours).
5) Your application will be processed.
a) We may ask you for other documents or information. Failure to provide all the requested documents and information may prevent us from granting a visa.
b) The Embassy asks for 15 working days to process the visa. Please plan your trip accordingly.
