Attention! Likewise, crewmembers of a vessel that has received authorization for charter in coastal shipping for up to 30 days do not need a Temporary Work Visa as long as they bear their Seafarers' Identity Document.
The application procedure for a Temporary Work Visa is initiated from Brazil by the Brazilian sponsoring company with the submission of the application and supporting documents to the Ministry of Justice and Public Security (“Ministério da Justiça e Segurança Pública” – MJ). Once authorization has been granted and subsequently received by the Embassy, the applicant may submit the appropriate documentation for issuance of the visa.
Note: The application process for technical assistance (based on Normative Resolution 03/2017) has three different possible procedures at the Ministry of Justice and Public Security: regular (processed in normal time frame), simplified (processed in up to 5 days) or simplified based on emergency (processed in up to 2 days).
