Investment Visa (Vitem IX)
A) General rules and Eligibility
This visa can be granted to foreign citizens who wish to establish temporary residence in Brazil as follows:
- intra-company transferee to represent commercial or civil corporation, group or economic conglomerate as administrator, manager, director or executive with management powers (Normative Resolution No. 11/2017);
- foreigners investing in a Brazilian company, with the creation of new jobs (Normative Resolution No. 13/2017);
- foreigners investing in innovation or basic/applied research in the fields of science and technology, including startups (Normative Resolution No. 13/2017);
- foreigners investing in Brazilian real estate market, acquiring real estate (in the form of one or more units) in value at least equal to or above R$ 700.000,00 (seven hundred thousand Brazilian reais), if the purchase is made in the Brazilian North or Northeast, or R$ 1.000.000,00 (one million Brazilian reais), if the purchase is made elsewhere within Brazil. (Normative Resolution No. 36/2018).
The application procedure for a Temporary Investment Visa is initiated from Brazil by the Brazilian sponsoring company with the submission of the application and supporting documents to the Ministry of Justice and Public Security (Ministério da Justiça e Segurança Pública – MJ). Once authorization has been granted and subsequently received by the Embassy, the applicant may submit the appropriate documentation for issuance of the visa.

B) Length of stay in Brazil
Visas are issued for up to 1 (one) year, counted from the day of issue.
Residence authorization (once in Brazil only) is given by the Federal Police Department (DPMAF), accordingly to the purpose of the stay.
Within 90 (ninety) days of arrival in Brazil, bearers of investment visas must register with the Brazilian Immigration authorities (DPMAF) in the place where the applicant intends to take up residence. The applicant should present the copy of the visa application form, provided upon collection of the visa at the Embassy, as well as the other documents listed in the Interministerial Ordinance nº 12 of December 1st , 2017.
C) Required documents
1) Applicant’s passport, valid for no less than 6 months, with at least two blank pages. Please note that pages reserved for amendments cannot be used for visa purposes. Together with the passport please bring one copy of its relevant pages. If you have been to Brazil before, make sure to bring your used visa to our Embassy.
2) One recent photo, 3 x 4 cm, in color, front view, white background and taken within 6 (six) months. Low quality photos will not be accepted. Please click here for photo specifications.
3) One visa application form per applicant, completely filled out online, printed and signed by the passport holder or his/her parents/guardians (parents must sign for minors under 18 years old). The application form is found at https://formulario-mre.serpro.gov.br (you will need to print only the receipt page with the bar code, sign it and glue the photo).
4) Valid original police record (Surat Keterangan Catatan Kepolisian), apostilled by the Directorate of Central Authority and International Law of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights (Direktorat OPHI).
- Applicants who have lived in other/multiple countries within the last 12 months must provide a police record from each of those countries. They must also be duly apostilled or legalized by the respective Brazilian consular authority with jurisdiction over these countries, and translated by a sworn translator, if necessary.
5) Original birth certificate (Akta Kelahiran) issued by the Registry Office (Pencatatan Sipil), apostilled by the Direktorat OPHI. Copies presented without the original must also be apostilled.
Notes
- Consular officers will only receive applications from applicants who are able to comply with all the requirements presented above.
- Please notice that this Embassy only accepts visa applications once the applicant has uploaded his/her photograph, signature and other documents through the online form (https://formulario-mre.serpro.gov.br). All documents must be scanned and attached to the online form. Otherwise, it will not be possible for this Embassy to accept the visa application.
- After filling out the online form, it will continue to be mandatory to present these documents for the verification of the consular authority, on the day of attendance at the Embassy. Please bring the originals of these documents, plus a set of ordinary copies.
- Consular officers may request additional information or documentation as deemed necessary. Personal interview may also be necessary.
- The consular service will not process visas of applicants who are not Indonesian or, if a foreigner, who do not reside in Indonesia for, at least, 12 (twelve) months (proper documentation must be presented to prove the residency for this period).

The visa fee must be paid by deposit into the Embassy's consular account at BCA. Payment slips may be obtained at the Embassy, and payment must be preferably made on the day which the service is requested.
E) Lodging your application
Bring the duly completed and signed application receipt and the supporting documentation to our Embassy during public hours.
Applications can be lodged in person or through an authorized third party (relative/friend/visa agent).
This Embassy does not accept visa applications by mail.
F) Processing times
When lodging in person: allow a minimum of 5 working days.
When lodging by a visa service company: allow between 10 to 15 working days.
For groups with more than 10 applications a longer processing time may be required.
Under no circumstances, visas will be issued on the same day.
