Residence Permit and National Migratory Registry (RNM)
Attention:
This service is not responsibility of the Brazilian consular offices.
Therefore, it cannot be carried out at the Embassies of Brazil.
This page contains information on how to forward your request directly to the competent Brazilian Authority.
The residence permit is granted to immigrants who intend to work or reside and settle temporarily or permanently in Brazil, provided that they meet the special requirements set forth in the Migration Law and its regulations.
After the residence permit, the immigrant is registered (the registration consists of civil identification, by biographical and biometric data), to obtain a National Migratory Registry number – "Registro Nacional Migratório - RNM" (formerly known as the National Registry of Foreigners – RNE) and receive the National Migratory Registry Card (CRNM).
Attention: The residence permit and the national migration registry are the exclusive competence of the Federal Police in Brazil.
Thus, for matters related to residence in Brazil, immigration registration, issuance or renewal of a national registration card - RNM, check the Federal Police website, or consult the Federal Police Immigration Office (DELEMIG) directly, through the contacts available at https://www.gov.br/pf/pt-br/assuntos/imigracao.
Important: The National Migratory Registration Card (CRNM) should not to be confused with the Individual Taxpayer Registration Number - CPF (responsability of the Federal Revenue Service, "Receita Federal").
To learn more about CPF check our website "CPF - Taxpayer Registry for Individuals".
