Filming crews, journalists, photographers (VIVIS)
a) General rules
- Foreign citizens travelling to Brazil as journalists (as opposed to correspondents), TV and filming crew are required to have this type of visa.
- An exemption label can be placed on a page of the passport of those nationals who do not require a visa for this purpose. This exemption label is intended solely to assist the crew with the entry of equipment. No previous appointment is required for this service. Please come to the Consulate between 1pm and 2pm, Monday to Friday (except bank holidays), in possession of the respective passports and the letter issued by the Brazilian National Agency of Cinema (ANCINE). The passport is stamped there and then.
- In case of commercial filming, publicity and documentaries, prior project approval is required. The person/company intending to film in Brazil must seek the assistance of a Brazilian co-producer, who shall apply for the ANCINE's approval on their behalf.
- Once ANCINE's approval to film has been granted, the relevant authorisation is relayed to the Brazilian Consulate in the applicant's country of residence.
- Upon receipt of the authorisation and submission of the applicant's passport, the Consulate shall issue the visa, if applicable, according to the above mentioned exemptions.
