TEMPORARY VISA IV - STUDY
(VITEM IV)
Eligibility:
- Foreign citizens that wish to establish temporary residence in Brazil to attend regular courses, internships or student/research interchange.
- Note: for stays up to 90 days, please check the Visit Visa section.
Terms and Conditions:
- Based on Interministerial Ordinance No. 7/2018 (Portuguese only).
- Holders of a student visa may only engage in paid activities while in Brazil if the workload is compatible with the study/internship/interchange schedule; interns may receive internship grants.
- Regular courses and student interchanges must have a minimum of 15 hours of study/internship per week.
- It is the responsibility of applicant to make sure the application is lodged accordingly.
- Temporary Visas are issued for up to 1 year and the initial residence period is determined by Federal Police upon registration in Brazil, up to 1 year.
- The residence period may be renewed by the Federal Police, in which case the foreigner may continue to enter Brazil throughout their temporary residence period with a valid passport and a Brazilian National Migratory Registration Card - CRMN (previously, National Foreign Registration - RNE).
- Holders of any Temporary Visa must register with the Federal Police in Brazil within 90 days from first arrival in the country. Applicants will receive a Visa Application Form from the Embassy upon the issuance of the visa, which must be presented for such registration.
Required documents: All documents stated in the requirement must be presented the ORIGINAL, unless otherwise stated.
- Filled-out Online Visa Application Form:
- Click "SEND" to receive your processing number and receipt;
- Print the receipt;
- Attach one PASSPORT SIZE photograph, colored, with white background; we do not accept black & white photo and colorful background. Snapshots and computer pictures are not accepted;
- Send photo, along with all required documents to consular.doha@itamaraty.gov.br
- Passport with a minimum remaining validity of six months prior to its expiration date, and with at least 2 blank visa pages available for the visa stamp - excluding the pages reserved for Amendments and Endorsements;
- An original letter from the educational institution in Brazil, confirming the acceptance of the student and indicating the length of the course, number of hours of lessons per day (minimum of 3 hours per day) and number of days per week (minimum of 5 days, making a minimum total of 15 hours of lessons per week);
- Proof of financial means to support the stay in Brazil:
- Original letter from the educational institution confirming the student has been granted a full scholarship OR;
- Original bank statements proving that the applicant has at his/her disposal sufficient funds to cover the expenses (for those being financially supported by the parents, a declaration from them will be required, together with a copy of the identification page of their passports).
- Certificate of Non Criminal Conviction, for those above 18 years old, issued within the past 90 days, for every country the applicant has lived for the past 5 year.
- If the Certificate of Non Criminal Conviction is not issued by the Singapore Police, the said document must be certified by the Brazilian Embassy or Consulate in the country of origin, except for those issued in countries signatory to the Hague Apostille Convention, that must be certified with an apostille by local competent authorities.
- Copy of birth certificate, clearly stating parents full names;
- Flight itinerary, clearly stating the expected arrival date in Brazil;
- As applicable (regular courses):
- Original letter from the Brazilian academic institution, confirming the enrollment of the applicant.
- As applicable (internship):
- Original internship agreement signed by the intern, the foreign university where the student is enrolled and the institution offering the internship, if the internship lasts for up to 120 days;
- Original internship agreement signed by the intern, the Brazilian university where the student is enrolled and the institution offering the internship, if the duration of the internship exceeds 120 days;
- Original letter from the foreign academic institution, confirming the current enrollment of the applicant.
- As applicable (student/research interchange):
- Original letter from the foreign academic institution, confirming the current enrollment of the applicant.
- As applicable (for applicants under 18 years):
- Declaration from the parents giving their full consent to his/her exit from the country and entry into Brazil for studies and indicating a person to be responsible for the applicant in Brazil. Signatures must be certified by a Notary Public.
Visa Fee:
- Visa fee for VITEM IV is QAR 440.00. VISA FEES ARE NOT REFUNDABLE.
- Visas process takes 5 to 10 business days. After processing, if the visa is APPROVED, an e-mail will be sent with a scheduled date for collection of the visa. The applicant MUST bring all original documents required for conference.
Attention:
The requirements are not all-inclusive. When processing a visa submission, the Embassy may request additional information/documentation. All supporting documentation that is not originated in Brazil must be authenticated by the Embassy. Copy of Brazilian supporting documents must be notarized by a Cartório in Brazil.
The Embassy accepts visa submissions by the applicant in person only
Remember that a visa to travel to Brazil is NOT YOUR RIGHT, and the Consular Authority reserves the right to request for additional documents not mentioned above or call for an interview, at date and time specified by the Consular Authority.
