Military Enlistment
Military enlistment is mandatory for all male Brazilian citizens. Brazilian citizens living abroad must enlist, by scheduling appointment with the Consular Section of the Embassy of Brazil in Doha, until June 30 of the year they turn 18 years old.
Citizens who miss the deadline must also enlist, either Brazilian-born or naturalized (until 45 years old)
As long as you live abroad, Military Enlistment Certificates must be presented annually to the Consular Section of the Embassy of Brazil in Doha for annotation, because of postponement of incorporation. If not possible, the citizens must regularize their military situation in the first 30 days of their arrival in Brazil.
Brazilian citizens living abroad may request at the Consular Section of the Embassy of Brazil in Doha, from May 1 of the year they turn 28 years old, the Certificate of Dismissal of Incorporation (Certificado de Dispensa de Incorporação – CDI), thus being dismissed of the annual presentation of the certificate.
Missing Certificates:
The Consular Section may emit a second copy of the Military Enlistment Certificate (Certificado de Alistamento Militar - CAM) for enlisted citizens registered on SERMILMOB, even if the enlistment was made in another Embassy or Military Office.
How to find out if a citizen is up-to date with the military service obligations:
In order for the situation to be regular, the Brazilian citizen must have enlisted in the first semester of the year they turned 18 years old and possess their Military Enlistment Certificate (CAM) with updated annotations (stamps on the back of the certificate). If the citizen was dismissed from the incorporation, they should have the Certificate of Dismissal of Incorporation (CDI) or the Certificate of Exemption (Certificado de Isenção - CI). If the citizen actively served in the Brazilian Armed Forces, they should have the First-Class or Second-Class Reservist Certificate.
