Call for translation of Brazilian authors
The Government of Brazil launched, on September 26, 2023, a new call for proposals for translating Brazilian books through the Program for the Support of Translation and Publication of Brazilian Authors Abroad, jointly organized by the Ministry of Culture, the National Library and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Brazil.
The Ministry of Culture will destine R$ 1 million (US$ 200,000) to cover partial or full funding for:
- translation of works by Brazilian authors for publishing in other languages;
- editing and printing Brazilian authors in the Community of Portuguese Language Countries;
- translation, editing, and printing of comic books and works for children and young adult segments.
Financial support will range from USD 1,000 to USD 6,000 for new or retranslation projects, and USD 3,000 for e-edition projects. In all cases, the support provided will be supplementary, with the publisher bearing the responsibility for the proposal.
