Diplomatic & Official Visas (VIDIP & VISOF)
a) General rules
- The diplomatic visa is granted to diplomats, government staff or employees of International Organizations with diplomatic status on an official mission to Brazil, either permanent or temporary.
- The official visa is granted for those on an official mission to Brazil, either permanent or temporary, without diplomatic status.
- The request must be done by Diplomatic Note from the government or organization that the applicant will be representing.
- The visa will be issued for the duration of the mission, as approved by the authorities in Brazil.
- For stays over 90 days, holders of this type of visa must register with the Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Affairs within 30 days of entry in the country and submit a copy of the visa application form provided by this Embassy.
- This visa cannot be issued on passports from Kosovo, Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic and Taiwan, as Brazil does not maintain diplomatic relations with these countries.
b) Length of stay in Brazil
Up to 2 years.
On a reciprocity basis, this visa may be issued for a longer period, if specified in the Diplomatic Note.
c) Required documents

The photo must be RECENT, with white background. |

Visa application form |
Must be filled in online (click here). Please print and bring the Visa Request Form Receipt (RER) to the appointment. It is very important to state the parents’ full names, as displayed in your birth/marriage certificate. For minor children (under 18 years old), the printed RER must be signed by both parents. Please note: the Embassy will only accept applications in which the required documents on this table have been uploaded to the form. |

Diplomatic Note |
Must state the details of the applicant’s assignment in Brazil. If the applicant is willing to travel accompanied by their spouse / partner / children, click here to check their eligibility. If eligible, the Diplomatic Note must name the accompanying family members and provide their details. For members of the family other than spouse, partner or children under the age of 21, a courtesy visa (VICOR) may be granted. |
d) Visa fees
Diplomatic and official visas are free of charge.
