Certification of copies of original documents
Please select the type of document whose copy you intend to get certified:
Consular certification only confirms the photocopy faithfully corresponds to the original document presented by the applicant. In order to be presented abroad, the original document's authenticity confirmation is done by the issue of an apostille in Brazil.
Only photocopies of Brazilian documents such as the ones below can be certified:
- Passport
- Identity Card (RG)
- Taxpayer Registry for Individuals (CPF)
- Identity cards issued by Federal professional activity regulatory bodies
- National Registry of Foreigners (RNE)
- Electoral card
- Brazilian driving licence (CNH)
- Military Draft Certificate (CAM)
- Brazilian employment record card (CTPS)
- Brazilian birth, marriage and death certificates
- Other notarial acts (powers of attorney, public deeds etc.)
- Documents issued by Brazilian consular representations

Laminated documents shall not be accepted. Please note: a) Each page to be certified must contain the photocopy of one single document. Do not combine, for example, an identity card and a CPF on the same page. b) The back page of the photocopy must be left black to allow the consular seal and stamp to be affixed. c) In case of passports, 4 passport pages may be photocopied on the same side of the sheet, and the back page of the photocopy must be left blank to allow the consular seal and stamp to be affixed. In this case, each sheet will be charged as a single document certification. |
How to request
1. Read carefully all the instructions in this page and gather all the documents required.
2. Bring the original documents to the Embassy from Sunday to Thursday, 10AM-1PM. If the application is complete, the consular agent will provide you with the deposit slip for payment. If not, they will ask you to provide further documents within 48 hours.
3. Once the payment is made, you must bring the proof of payment back to the Embassy.
4. Your application will be prepared by the Consular authorities usually within a couple of days.
5. You will be informed as of when to present yourself at the Embassy to collect your document.
Original Syrian documents and/or their respective photocopies, to be presented in Brazil, must obey the following process:
1. Be legalized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates
2. Be translated by a sworn translator into English, Portuguese, French OR Spanish
3. Be legalized by the Embassy.

Documents issued by a third country
In case of documents issued in other countries, the party concerned must check with the Brazilian consular authority located in the respective country, with jurisdiction over the place where the document was issued.
