Important information
- The new passport may be requested at any time, and there is no need to wait for the current passport to expire.
- It is recommended that nationals of Brazil enter and leave the country with a Brazilian passport.
- It is the citizen's responsibility to check if their passport is valid. The validity of a passport is never extended.
- All supporting documents issued in Syria must be legalised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and translated into English, Portuguese, Spanish or French by a sworn translator.

Consent for passport to minor children (Form)

Both parents must complete the consent for passport to minor children form, as well as the travel authorisation for minor children form. Whilst the consent for passport to minor children is mandatory, registering the travel authorisation in the minor child's passport is optional. Please read the instructions listed after this table to learn more about travel authorisation for minor children. Parents must:
- Brazilian passport even if expired ; or - Identity card (RG); or - Functional card issued by a government agency or by a regulatory agency; or - Driver's license, even if expired, issued by DETRAN; or - Employment and social security card (CTPS); or - Digital identification document provided that it is recognized by federal law as valid throughout the Brazilian territory. • For Foreign parents provide one of the following: - valid National Migration Registry (RNM) card. (The document is intended to prove the foreign parent's residence in Brazil. If the foreign parent authorizing the trip does not have a valid RNM, the minor's travel authorization must be issued through the "Declaration of Authorization for Minors to Travel Abroad". If the parents are unable to be present at the Embassy, their signatures on the form(s) must be authenticated, in person, by a solicitor or notary public. The document must then be legalised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. |

Written travel authorisation for minor children on passport page:
- Registering the travel authorisation in the child's passport is optional, whereas the consent for issuing a new passport to a minor child is mandatory.
- If the parents do not wish to have the travel authorisation registered in the child's passport, the travel authorisation form must be left blank.
- If they wish to have it written in the child's passport, they must select one of the three possible types of authorisation, and follow the procedures included in the table above.
- The form must be used only if the travel authorisation is to be written in the passport issued by the Embassy. Please click here to learn how to register a travel authorisation in a passport issued by the Federal Police in Brazil.
- Travel authorisation validity is defined by the parents, and may be valid for as long as the passport is valid. The authorisation can only be cancelled upon request of a new travel document for the child.
- In the absence of a written authorisation in the passport, the minor child shall only be allowed to leave Brazilian territory accompanied by both parents, or upon submission of written authorisation from the absent parent or court authorisation.
