Important information

The new passport may be requested at any time, and there is no need to wait for the current passport to expire.
- It is recommended that nationals of Brazil enter and leave the country with a Brazilian passport.
- It is the citizen's responsibility to check if their passport is valid. The validity of a passport is never extended.
- All supporting documents issued in Syria must be legalised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and translated into English, Portuguese, Spanish or French by a sworn translator.
* From January 10, 2024, all Brazilian citizens must have a CPF number in order to request services at the Embassy. If you don't have a CPF, please click here for more details about how to request one.

Current passport |
If the passport has expired over 2 years ago, the applicant must also submit a recent Brazilian photo ID (e.g. identity card, driving licence, work permit booklet) or a recent foreign photo ID (e.g. foreign passport, driving licence, etc). |

One recent photo (5X5) |
The photo must display a full frontal view of the face, with white background, and be no older than 6 months. Click here to check if your photo complies with the regulations. |

Original Brazilian document |
If single: identity card or driving licence or Brazilian birth certificate. If married: Brazilian marriage certificate. Those married abroad who have not registered their marriage in Brazil or at the Brazilian Embassy, click here to see instructions regarding marriage registration. If divorced: Brazilian marriage certificate with divorce annotation. If the name has been legally altered due to a reason other than marriage or divorce: Brazilian full birth certificate ("certidão de inteiro teor") or Brazilian full marriage certificate attesting the name change. |

Electoral situation confirmation |
The electoral situation must be confirmed by one of the following documents: 1) Electoral clearance certificate, which can be obtained on the Superior Electoral Court website (Tribunal Superior Eleitoral - TSE) 2) Electoral card, along with the electoral situation confirmation printed from TSE website. If you are 18 or older and do not have an electoral card yet, you must get it before you apply for a passport. * The electoral registration is closed until the 4th of November 2024. If your registration is irregular, your new passport will be valid until the 4th of May 2025. |

Original military certificate |
Only for male applicants aged 18 to 45 years old. If you do not hold a military draft certificate, click here. |

9 | Birth certificate of the first Brazilian national in the family | If the Brazilian nationality has been obtained by the rights of inheritance, the applicant must provide a copy of the Brazilian birth certificate or naturalization of the first Brazilian citizen in the family. |
