Registration of applicants aged 18 or over
Applicants aged 18 or over should preferably register at a consular authority located in his/her country of birth. Those born outside Syria must also submit proof of address in this country, in addition to all required documentation.
The following must be present at the Embassy upon registration:
1. The applicant being registered, acting as the declarant, must sign the birth register;
2. Two capable witnesses of legal age, either Brazilian or foreign, must sign the birth register. The witnesses may or may not be a relative.
It is not necessary for the following to be present at the Embassy:
1. The parents (even if Brazilian).

The following documents of the Brazilian parent must be submitted: a) Brazilian birth certificate issued within the last 6 months (in case of consular registration before the last 6 months, the certificate must have been transcribed in Brazil); or b) Brazilian marriage certificate (if divorced, containing the divorce annotation); or c) Brazilian death certificate (if deceased); or d) One of the following documents:
Please note: the name of the Brazilian parent in the foreign birth registration may not differ from the name displayed in his/her Brazilian documentation submitted. Should this occur, the party concerned must make arrangements for the names to be modified in either the foreign or the Brazilian civil registry, so that both documents display the same names. Eventual inconsistencies regarding date and place of birth will not be accepted either, and must be modified. |
In case of foreign parent, a valid foreign passport and one of the following documents must be submitted: a) Brazilian marriage certificate (if married to the Brazilian parent); or b) Foreign birth certificate containing the parents' names (if the parent is British, please submit the Certified Copy of an Entry - full birth certificate); or c) Any other local official document which contains the parents' full names, so that the grandparents' names can be attested. The consular birth registration is free of charge.
