His Excellency Fred Arruda
Ambassador Fred Arruda graduated in Economics from the University of Brasília in 1979 and joined the Brazilian Foreign Service the following year. He was ambassador of Brazil to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland from 2018 to 2023.
Ambassador Fred Arruda has extensive experience in the field of economic multilateral negotiations. He took part in the Uruguay Round of multilateral trade negotiations in Geneva and headed the Brazilian Mission to the International Organisations based in London. Throughout his career, he was also posted to the Consulate-General in New York, the Embassy in Ottawa, the Mission to the Organisation of American States in Washington and the Embassy in Montevideo. He served as the Chief Diplomatic Advisor to the President and to the Vice-President of Brazil. He took office as Ambassador to the Commonwealth of Australia in 08 August 2023.
Ambassador Arruda was also involved in the activities of the Brazilian National Congress, having served as an adviser for the Speakers of the Chamber of Deputies (2009-2010) and the Federal Senate (1997-2001). He has further contributed to the field of parliamentary diplomacy through his thesis on the subject.
Ambassador Fred Arruda is married to Lenice de Almeida Nobrega Arruda with two children, Sarah and Pedro, and 3 granddaughters, Alice, Catarina and Luna.
