Visa Guide

As of April 10 2025, citizens from Australia, Canada, and the USA will be required to apply for a visitor visa to travel to Brazil for tourism.

Passengers planning to arrive in Brazil prior to April 10 2025, are exempt from the requirement.

Visit Visa (for short term stays - up to 90 days - with no intention of establishing residence)

Temporary Visas (for those who wish to establish temporary residence in Brazil):

• Temporary Visa I - Academic research, teaching or extension

• Temporary Visa II - Health treatment

• Temporary Visa III - Humanitarian shelter

• Temporary Visa IV - Study

• Temporary Visa V - Work

• Temporary Visa VI - Working-holiday

• Temporary Visa VII - Religious activities

• Temporary Visa VIII - Voluntary work

• Temporary Visa IX - Investment

• Temporary Visa X - Relevant economic, scientific, technological or cultural activities (not yet regulated)

• Temporary Visa XI - Family reunion

• Temporary Visa XII - Artistic and athletic activities

• Temporary Visa XIII - Visa treaties (MERCOSUR, Bolivia and Chile Residence Agreement)

• Temporary Visa XIV - Immigration policy (retirees, pensioners and digital nomads)

Diplomatic & Official Visas

Please note:

• all visa applications must be lodged at the Consular Section after the online form is filled up;
• holders of Brazilian visas who change passports after the visa has been issued must travel to Brazil with both passports as long as the visa remains valid.
