VITEM VI - Working-holiday
VITEM VI - Temporary Work Holiday Visa is granted to the immigrant over sixteen years of age, national of a country that grants the same benefit to Brazilian nationals, based on diplomatic communication or international agreement.
The holder of the aforementioned visa may remain in Brazil primarily for tourism purposes, being allowed to carry out remunerated activity, as an income supplement.
Brazil-Australia
Based on the "Memorandum of Understanding between the Government of the Federative Republic of Brazil and the Government of Australia on a Work Holiday Program", VITEM VI may be granted to Australian nationals.
The validity period of the visa will be up to 1 (one) year. The visa is non-extendable and does not entitle for family reunion visas.
The VITEM VI will be granted to any Australian citizen who proves to the Consular Authority that their primary intention is to carry out tourism in Brazil, with work being a circumstantial fact and not the main reason for their visit, as well as satisfying the following requirements:
I - be between eighteen and thirty-one years old at the time of visa application;
II - not be accompanied by dependents (with the exception of dependent family members who have a visa or other residence permit);
III - hold a valid Australian passport;
IV - have a return ticket or sufficient resources to purchase such a ticket;
V - have sufficient resources for their own support during the beginning of the period of stay;
VI - have a health plan and accident insurance valid for the entire period of stay in the country, covering hospital expenses and repatriation in case of illness or death;
VII - be in good health; and
VIII - not having previously resided in Brazil in the context of this program.
The granting of VITEM VI is limited to a quota of 500 visas per year.
The Consular Authorities responsible for issuing VITEM VI to Australian citizens will be, exclusively, the Embassy in Canberra and the Consulate General in Sydney.
Required Documents
- Filled-out Online Visa Application Form
- Click "SEND" to receive your processing number and receipt;
- Print the receipt;
- Attach one PASSPORT SIZE color photograph over white background. Snapshots and computer pictures are not accepted;
- SIGN the receipt and deliver it to the Consular Section together with all other required documents (no walk-in basis; lodgement by mail or under appointment for in-person lodgement).
- Passport with a minimum remaining validity of six months prior to its expiration date, and with at least 2 blank visa pages available for the visa stamp - excluding the pages reserved for Amendments and Endorsements.
- Proof of financial means to support the stay in Brazil: original bank statements proving that the applicant has at his/her disposal sufficient funds to cover the expenses (for those being financially supported by the parents, a declaration from them will be required, together with a copy of the identification page of their passports);
- Health plan and accident insurance valid for the entire period of stay in the country, covering hospital expenses and repatriation in case of illness or death;
- Copy of birth certificate, clearly stating parents' full names.
- Flight itinerary, clearly stating the expected arrival date in Brazil.

HOW TO PAY:
BY POST: Australian Post Money Order or Bank Cheque (personal/company cheques are not accepted), made out to EMBASSY OF BRAZIL.
NO Auspost (online service) delivered Money Order will be accepted.
IN PERSON: Money order as above or EFTPOS (debit or credit - VISA/MASTERCARD).
How to Apply
Visas are usually processed in 2 weeks. Please note that processing time may be extended in times of heavy workload or due to unforeseen circumstances.
A) Visa by post
Applicants should send all required documentation and payment of fee as stated above plus a self-addressed, pre-paid, registered envelope of suitable size to the Embassy of Brazil in Canberra (see address below). Updated information on post charges is available at Australia Post offices. DO NOT SEND CASH, either for fees or for postage. The Embassy of Brazil does not provide express or priority services.
B) Visa in Person (booking required)
Applicants should bring to the Embassy of Brazil in Canberra (see address below) all required documentation and the payment of fee as stated above. Once ready, you may pick it up in person or you may include a self-addressed, pre-paid, registered envelope of suitable size. DO NOT BRING CASH, either for fees or for postage. The processing times for Visa applications lodged in person will be the same as stated above. The Embassy of Brazil does not provide expedited or priority services (book an appointment).

Remarks
- Please note that issuing or denying a visa is a sovereign act of Governments. It is a prerogative applied by every country and strengthened by international practice.
- The requirements are not all-inclusive. When processing a visa submission, the Embassy may request additional information/documentation.
- A visa shall be denied to any foreign citizen who, when submitting his/her application, behaves in an aggressive, insulting or disrespectful way.
