Diplomatic and official visas
Eligibility:
- Australian government officials on a diplomatic or an official (that is, government-related) mission to Brazil;
- officials of organizations from the United Nations system on an official mission to Brazil;
- government officials of third countries on a diplomatic or an official mission to Brazil;in case a visa required
Procedures:
- For Australian government officials : Please have the following documents submitted to the Embassy of Brazil in Canberra on behalf of each applicant:
i. a Department of Foreign Afffairs and Trade (DFAT) note verbale stating the travelers’ full name, nationality, position, department/agency, and passport number, as well as the nature and duration of the mission, and requesting that the visa in question be issued by the Embassy of Brazil in Canberra;
ii. the printed receipt page (with barcode) of the online visa application form; said receipt must be signed by the passport holder and the photo must be glued on the appropriate box (please fill out the online form as completely as possible);
iii. the applicant's passport valid for a minimum of six months, with at least one blank visa page available;
iv. one recent 3" x 4" passport photo of the applicant, front view, white background (please glue the photo on the receipt page – see above; note that snapshots and computer pictures are not accepted).
- For officials of organizations from the United Nations system: Please have the following documents submitted to the Embassy of Brazil in Canberra on behalf of each applicant:
i. a note verbale from the UN-system organization stating the traveler's full name, nationality, position, organization/department, and laissez-passer number, as well as the nature and duration of the mission;
ii. the printed receipt page (with barcode) of the online visa application form; said receipt must be signed by the laissez-passer holder and the photo must be glued on the appropriate box (please fill out the online form as completely as possible);
iii. the applicant's U.N. laissez-passer valid for a minimum of six months, with at least one blank visa page available (if no laisser-passer is available, the UN-system organization must clarify why the officer will be traveling on a passport issued by the country of his/her nationality);
iv. one recent 3" x 4" passport photo, front view, white background (please glue the photo on the receipt page – see above; note that snapshots and computer pictures are not accepted).
- For government officials of third countries, in case a visa required: Please have the following documents submitted to the Embassy of Brazil in Canberra on behalf of each applicant:
i. a note from the Foreign Mission stating the travelers’ full name, nationality, position, department/agency, and passport number, as well as the nature and duration of the mission;
ii. the printed receipt page (with barcode) of the online visa application form; said receipt must be signed by the passport holder and the photo must be glued on the appropriate box (please fill out the online form as completely as possible);
iii. the applicant's passport valid for a minimum of six months, with at least one blank visa page available.
iv. one recent 3" x 4" passport photo, front view, white background (please glue the photo on the receipt page – see above; note that snapshots and computer pictures are not accepted).
Consular Fees:
- Diplomatic and official visas are issued free of charge.
Special Notes:
- The Brazilian Government decides at its own discretion the type of visa to be granted.
- The Embassy may request additional information or documentation, as deemed necessary.
- According to Brazilian law, all aliens bearing a diplomatic or official visa (or who are waived from such visas by a bilateral agreement) who are accredited before the Brazilian Government or will stay in Brazil longer than 90 days must register with the Ministry of Foreign Relations within 30 days of their first entry into Brazil.
