Artists and sportspersons (VITEM XII)
a) General rules
- Based on Normative Resolution No. 69/2006 (Portuguese only).
- Performing artists and sportspersons, including assistants and technicians, who receive payment from a Brazilian source (though there is no employment relationship) must have this type of visa.
- Approval of work contract by the Brazilian Ministry of Labour is required.
- The sponsor, promoter or employer is responsible for making all necessary arrangements related to the contract in Brazil, prior to the lodging of the visa application.
b) Length of stay in Brazil
First granted period: up to 90 days.
Extensions (application in Brazil only): up to a further 90 days.
Those willing to extend their stay should apply for extension at the Brazilian Federal Police.
c) Required documents

It is very important to state the parents’ full names, as displayed in your birth/marriage certificate. Please note: the Consulate will only accept applications in which the required documents on this table have been uploaded to the form. |

Original full birth certificate |
If British, present the Certified Copy of an Entry of Birth – full form. In the absence of the full birth certificate, the applicant may submit another official document that contains the parents’ full names. Please note: if the document has been issued in a country other than the United Kingdom or the British Overseas Territories and Crown Dependencies (Jersey, Guernsey, Isle of Man), click here to learn how to proceed. |

e) Family reunion
Applicants willing to take their spouse / partner / children / other dependants, please click here to check their eligibility. Dependants may be granted a Family Reunion Visa (VITEM XI), bound to the primary VITEM XII application, thus subject to the same conditions (e.g. same length of stay etc.). Family applications may be lodged jointly or after the primary applicant’s VITEM XII has been issued.
