VIVIS
VIVIS – Visitor Visas
The purpose of the trip and the intended length of stay will determine which visa will be required under Brazilian immigration law. There are two main types of visas: Visitor Visas (VIVIS) and Temporary Visas (VITEM).
VIVIS applies to a number of travel purposes (see list below) for a maximum stay of up to 90 days, without the intention to establish residence, and counted from the date of entry in the country.
For some of these purposes, if the intended stay exceeds 90 days, a VITEM must be applied for.

Transit within the national territory: A VIVIS is not required for a stopover or connection in Brazil, as long as the visitor does not leave the international transit zone and holds a single ticket (under a single booking reference, stating both the origin and the final destination, regardless of multiple stops or multiple carriers). If the traveler does not benefit from the visa waiver and holds separate tickets and must go through border/passport control upon disembarkation, he/she must obtain a VIVIS. |
