Digital Nomad Visa (VITEM XIV) – General information
Digital Nomad Visas (VITEM XIV) are aimed at foreign citizens who are employed outside Brazil by a foreign company and wish to reside in and work remotely from Brazil, using information and communication technology to perform their job.
To be eligible for this type of visa, applicants will need to provide proof of status as a digital nomad, such as the following: an employment/service contract, a certificate of employment or a similar document that demonstrates the labour contract with a foreign employer.
Proof of sufficient financial means during the stay in Brazil must also be provided.
Please note you should not apply for this type of visa if you are employed by a Brazilian company.

Before applying for the visa, please check the rules regarding travel restrictions to Brazil:
Applying for the Visitor Visa
1) Fill out the online application form and upload the required supporting documents listed below;
2) After you complete and submit the form, print and sign the RER (application reference number); attach your photo to the application; and
3) Send an e-mail to consular.belgrado@itamaraty.gov.br to schedule an appointment in order to submit your signed application form for assessment.
On the day of the visa appointment, the original supporting documents must be presented by the applicant at the Consular Sector, in addition to the payment of the consular fee.
Supporting documents/requirements
1) Online visa application form;
2) Valid passport (the passport has valid up to the end of the trip to Brazil and contain at least 2 blank pages);
3) Passport photo (size 5cm x 7cm or 5cm x 7cm only, white background) taken within the last 6 months;
4) Original birth certificate. The document will have to be previously legalised (contain an apostille seal);
5) Police clearance certificate issued by national Serbian authorities (for Serbian applicants) or Montenegrin authorities (for Montenegrin applicants). The document has to be translated into Portuguese by a certified translator. If the applicant has lived in multiple countries within the last 12 months, a police check from each country of residence must be provided. In this case, the document must also be legalised (contain an apostille seal) by the competent authority in the issuing country;
6) Proof of sufficient financial means: pay slip in a monthly amount equal to or greater to US$ 1.500 or bank statements for the last 3 months as proof of funds in the amount of US$ 18.000 (bank statements must be signed by the branch manager and his/her signature has to be attested by a notary public). Statements issued outside the jurisdiction of the Embassy (Serbia and Montenegro) must be signed by the branch manager and likewise be duly legalised (and contain an apostille seal). Photocopies or computer scans of the documents will not be accepted;
7) Proof of status as a digital nomad, such as the following: an employment/service agreement, a certificate of employment or a similar document that demonstrates the labour contract with a foreign employer. The documents need to be original or duly certified. Please note: Documents issued in a country outside the jurisdiction of the Embassy (Serbia and Montenegro) need to be duly legalised (contain an apostille seal) by the competent authority of the issuing country.
8) Health insurance valid in Brazil;
9) Flight reservation (airline flight reservation showing entrance into and exit from Brazil) as well as a detailed itinerary of the whole stay in the country; and
10) Consular fee, payable in cash only, in US Dollars, upon delivery of application documents;
The Embassy may request additional information or a personal interview with the applicant to complete the assessment of the application.
Visa processing fee
The consular fee for a Digital Nomad Visa (VITEM XIV) is USD 100,00.
Visa fees are payable at the Consular Section of the Embassy in cash only, in American dollars (USD), on the day of the visa appointment.
Visa application fees are non-refundable. There will be no refund of the fee, regardless of whether the visa is granted or not.
Visa processing time
Average processing time for visa applications is 10 days.
