Passport for individuals under 18 years old
IMPORTANT: It is only possible to apply for a passport for a person under 18 years old if the minor already has a Brazilian birth registration (Certidão de nascimento) issued in Brazil or a consular registration, in case the child was born in a foreign country.
The Consular Section of the Embassy of Brazil in Beirut may request ADDITIONAL documents if deemed necessary.
STEP-BY-STEP |
1st Step: Gather the necessary documentation and fill out the RER form. |
Prepare the following documents before starting your application. Passport applications will not be processed if the documentation is incomplete. |
a. Previous passport (if applicable) |
b. Original and copy of Brazilian documentation · Brazilian birth certificate with digital seal and Brazilian identification card (RG). Naturalized Brazilians should present the positive naturalization certificate. · If the minor was born abroad and has not been registered with a Brazilian consulate yet, the birth registration should be obtained before applying for the passport. |
c. Photograph · One photo (4x5cm) taken within the last 6 months. The photo should be taken facing forward, with a white background. · The face and shoulders should be completely framed by the camera, and the applicant should look directly at the camera. · There should be neither reflections nor shadows in any part pf the photograph. |
d. Original ID documentation for both parents · Valid passport or other Brazilian document with recent photo (e.g., RG, CNH, work permit). · In the case of a foreign parent, a valid passport or a recent Lebanese individual registration, with official translation to Portuguese, English or Spanish. |
e. Minor’s Lebanese identity document · Original and copy of a Lebanese identity document (ID or Individual Civil Register), with official translation to Portuguese, English or Spanish. |
f. Receipt of Application Submission (RER) · Fill out the RER form. Click here to access the form. · ATTENTION: Filling out this form is only the first step. Your passport application will only be processed after submitting the request through the e-consular website. · If the minor is literate, they may sign in the indicated field. If they are not literate, one of the parents may sign. |
g. Authorization for passport issuance to a minor · The authorization form for passport issuance to a minor and the travel authorization registration form must be filled out by both parents and signed in person at the consular section. · While the authorization for passport issuance to a minor is mandatory, the registration or non-registration of the minor's travel authorization in the passport is optional. · Parents should bring the completed form(s) - but not yet signed -, the Brazilian birth certificate (or identification card) of the child, and their own valid Brazilian documents with a photo (e.g., passport or identification card). In the case of foreign parents, a valid photo identification document is required. · Note: If the parents' identification document shows a different name from what is registered on the child's birth certificate, a document proving the name change (Brazilian marriage or birth certificate in full) must be presented. · If one of the parents is in Brazil, they must sign the passport/travel authorization form and have it authenticated by a notary public in person, using the authenticity method. Recognition by similarity will not be accepted for the passport authorization.

Registration of travel authorization for a minor in the passport: · The registration of travel authorization in the passport is optional, unlike the authorization for passport issuance to a minor, which is mandatory. · If you choose not to request registration, the minor's travel authorization form should be left blank. · The form should only be used for the purpose of registering the travel authorization in a passport issued by the consular section of the Embassy of Brazil in Beirut. To authorize the registration of travel authorization in a passport to be issued by the Federal Police in Brazil. · The validity of the authorization registered in the passport is at the discretion of the parents and may have a maximum validity equal to that of the travel document. The authorization can only be canceled by requesting a new travel document in the name of the minor. · Without the authorization registered in the passport, the minor can only leave Brazilian territory accompanied by both parents or with written authorization from the parent who is not accompanying them or by court authorization. |
2nd Step: Submit the documentation in the e-consular website. |
In the e-consular system, submit the documentation for analysis. |
IMPORTANT: Wait for the validation of your request in the e-consular system to have access to available appointment slots. |
After the validation of your request, log in to e-consular and schedule your appointment. |
3rd Step: Attend the consular section on the scheduled date |
On the day of the appointment, both parents must attend the consular section with the necessary documentation, as well as the minor who is 12 years old or older. |
The Consular Section is available from Monday to Friday by online appointment through e-consular for all consular services, except visas (which should be requested through BLS). |
4th Step: Pay the consular fee |
The passport fee is paid at BLF Bank in US dollars (USD) as the bank does not convert Lebanese pounds (LBP) to USD. |

· Between 4 and under 18 years old: | Passport validity of 5 years. |
(Note: If the current valid passport is not presented, the new passport will have a validity of 4 years.)
