CPF for foreign citizens

Foreign citizens of any age who own or wish to own assets and rights subject to public registration in Brazil, including real estate, vehicles, vessels, aircraft, equity interests, bank accounts, or financial market investments, must register with the Cadastro de Pessoas Físicas (CPF) [Individual Taxpayer Registry]. According to Joint Ordinance COCAD/COGEA No. 53/2023, supplemented by Joint Ordinance COCAD/COGEA No. 55/2023, foreigners residing abroad must submit their CPF (Cadastro de Pessoas Físicas) requests to Brazilian consular offices abroad through in-person assistance. The form must be filled out online on the website of the Federal Revenue Service (click here to access). After clicking "submit," a protocol number will be generated. Follow the instructions on the website and print the form. If you are unable to print, make a note of the generated protocol number. |
Original and copy of the identification document | Valid passport. The presentation of the birth certificate is optional, for the inclusion of parentage in the registration |
