General information :
Download our step-by-step guide on how to request a visa if you are planning a trip to Brazil.
Do I need a visa?
Holders of Ethiopian common passports or any type of passport issued by Djibouti or South Sudan need a visa to travel to Brazil.
By bilateral agreement, holders of Ethiopian diplomatic, official or service passports can enter Brazil without a visa for stays of up to 90 days.
If you hold a passport from another country and are not sure whether a visa is required or not for you to travel to Brazil, please check the most updated information here.
If you are only transiting through Brazil, please read the Passengers in transit section.
NO visa on arrival system
Please note that Brazil does NOT issue visas on arrival at its airports or other border controls. If required, a visa must be obtained ahead of departure, at the Brazilian Embassies or consular offices.
Processing time
The normal delay for a visa to be issued by the Embassy is 15 business days from the date of delivery of all documents at our Consular Section.
The Embassy strongly advises travelers to prepare their visa requests well in advance of departure dates, in order to avoid any last minute inconvenience.
Consular fees - where to pay
Any consular fees, including those related to visa requests, must be paid only via bank deposit. Cash payments are no longer accepted. Please bring with you the original bank deposit voucher when you present a visa request.
The Consular Section account details are the following:

Current Account # 1000 1977 43593
Branches of the Commercial Bank of Ethiopia are available country-wide (click here for a list). Some branches located close to the Embassy are those at the Ring Road's airport roundabout (crossing with Bole Road, next to the DSTv customer center) or on Bole Road, in Alem Building (close to Friendship Mall).
Validity
Visitor visas (purpose of tourism, business or transit) for holders of Ethiopian common passports, as well as for citizens of Djibouti and South Sudan, are valid for up to one year, depending on the case, and allow multiple entries, each stay in Brazil not exceeding 90 days. Different rules may apply if you hold a passport from another country.
