IMPORTANT RULES ABOUT VISITOR VISAS
-
NO EMPLOYMENT IN BRAZIL: the beneficiary of a visitor visa is prohibited from engaging in paid employment in Brazil.
-
SOME TYPES OF PAYMENTS ARE ALLOWED: the beneficiary of a visitor visa may receive certain forms of payment from the government, from a Brazilian employer or from a private entity, such as reimbursement for travel expenses (the Consular authority will verify the applicant’s paperwork in order to stablish if the payment to be received by the applicant is compatible with the visitor visa).
-
If the applicant is going to receive any sort of payment from Brazilian sources, he/she must provide comprehensive paperwork related to intended trip.
-
The visitor visa can also be used for travelers that intend to compete for prizes, including money, sports competitions or artistic or cultural competitions.
-
-
THE APPLICANT MUST INDICATE PRECISELY WHAT HE/SHE IS GOING TO DO IN BRAZIL: a visitor visa can be used for different purposes, in a single trip or in different occasions, provided the purposes of the trip are duly explained by the applicant and covered by the visitor visa rules listed above. For instance, if the applicant is going to be hosted in Brazil by family members or friends, this should be informed during the application. Please do not present an unrealistic hotel reservation on your requirement, for it may lead to its rejection.
