PAYMENT GUIDELINES FOR CONSULAR SERVICES
The Consulate General of Brazil in Washington only accepts Money Orders from the U.S. Postal Service (post office) as payment for consular services.
No other form of payment is accepted. Money orders from other sources (Western Union, CVS, etc.) are not accepted.
Money order payments for consular services must be purchased at a U.S. post office beforehand and presented along with all documentation required for said services. No consular services will be rendered until appropriate payment is presented. Visit the Find Locations page of the U.S. Postal Service’s website to find the post office nearest you.
If you arrive at the Consulate to request a service without the appropriate payment, you must first go to the nearest post office to purchase a money order in the exact amount of the corresponding service (see table of consular fees below).
There are two post offices within walking distance of the Consulate General of Brazil:
1400 L ST NW LBBY 2 WASHINGTON DC 20005 (Entrance on 14th St NW) |
1050 CONNECTICUT AVE NW WASHINGTON, DC 20036 (Enter Washington Square building and take escalator down to concourse level) |
Money orders must be properly filled out with your name and address as the example below:
The Consulate only accepts payments by USPS MONEY ORDERS and in the exact amount of the service requested.
All money orders must be made to "Consulate-General of Brazil" and must contain the name and address of the client. Each individual service must be paid with a separate money order.
In compliance with an order from the Federal Reserve Bank of the United States, the Consulate will only accept money orders containing the bearer's name and address, according to the sample below. The field "memo" on the left must be filled with the name of the service that is being requested (visa, legalization, etc.).
The same rule will apply to services sent by mail or through visa services and expeditors.
