Instructions for Visa Application Form
In order to apply for a visa, foreign nationals need to fill in the online visa application form and print the Visa Request Form Receipt (RER).
The Consulate will only accept applications in which the required documents have been uploaded. See bellow some tips on how to upload the required documentation.
SETTING UP YOUR BROWSER, IF NECESSARY (MOZILLA FIREFOX)
- The current version of the online visa application form performs better in the internet browser Mozilla Firefox.
- When accessing the form, should your browser display a message saying the ‘connection is untrusted’ or not secure, please disregard it – it is safe. Add the exception in order to be able to proceed (‘Add Exception’ > ‘Confirm Security Exception’).
- In order to be able to upload files to the form, you must enable pop-ups on your browser. Go to your browser’s preferences to disable blocked pop-ups.
FILLING THE ONLINE VISA APPLICATION FORM
In order to apply for a Brazilian visa, you need to fill in the online visa application form:
- The Application Form must be completed exclusively online.
- Make sure you have your personal documents at hand.
- Please note that some of the fields of the Application Form are mandatory.
- Please note that the upload of your photo (2"x2") is mandatory.
- After the completion of the Form, click on "Complete Application" to receive an application number.
- After you submit your application, a Receipt (RER) is generated. The Receipt must be printed and signed by the applicant, and the original documentation must be sent to the Brazilian Consulate.
Print and sign the Visa Request Form Receipt (RER). See sample below:
- Even if your photo (2"x2") has been uploaded to the Application Form, you must provide a printed copy of it. Glue your photo in the corresponding field of the printed Receipt.
Send by mail the printed receipt, along with the original documentation and due payment, to the Consulate.
TIPS FOR UPLOADING FILES
When you reach the Upload tab of the form, notice there are ‘choose file’ buttons for both the photo and the signature, but not for the scanned documents. Always make sure your files comply with the specifications below before starting to complete the form.
Once a document is selected from the drop-down menu, a dialogue box should open for you to select the file location. If pop-ups are blocked, the dialogue box will not open, and you will not be able to select the file you would like to upload. Make sure pop-ups are unblocked.
As there is limited upload capacity – maximum of approximately 2Mb – make sure you upload as many files from the list of required documents as possible. Remember to submit all original documents at the Consulate during your interview.
