VIVIS – VISITOR VISA
- Original passport (signed, valid up to the end of Brazil trip, with at least 2 blank visa pages
- Proof of legal status in the U.S. (copy of valid visa or valid Green Card) for non-U.S. citizens
- Proof of residence in consular jurisdiction (copy of a valid driver's license or utility bill will be accepted as proof of residence)

- Passport-style photo (2”x 2”, white background)
- USPS money order - see visa fees here
- Flight confirmation issued by the airline (purchased ticket showing printed name, entrance into and exit from Brazil)
- Printed bank statements from the past three months showing adequate funds for international travel
- Extra USPS Priority Express envelope, pre-paid and self-addressed (this will be used to mail your passport back to you)

ADDITIONAL DOCUMENT FOR BUSINESS-RELATED VIVIS APPLICATIONS:
In addition to the requirements listed above, applicants traveling to Brazil for business (company meetings, consulting, auditing, site visits, signing of contracts, journalistic activities, cruise or airline crew members) must present a letter from the U.S. company and an invitation letter from the Brazilian company. The letters should be on company stationery and signed by a manager/director/supervisor, stating the following information:
- Nature of company’s/organization’s business or activities in Brazil;
- Applicant’s title and/or job description;
- Nature of business and activities to be conducted by applicant in Brazil;
- Name(s) and address(es) of Brazilian company(ies) with which applicant will conduct business;
- Contact(s) in Brazil: name(s), phone number(s) and corresponding position(s);
- Expected travel dates;
- Affirmation of company’s financial support of applicant while in Brazil;
- Affirmation that applicant will not provide any technical assistance or perform any salaried work while in Brazil (such activities require a VITEM V
temporary work visa).
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS FOR CITIZENS OF CERTAIN COUNTRIES:
Afghanistan ***Visa requires prior authorization from Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which can extend the processing time. |
Additional requirements: • Original birth certificate (showing full names of applicant’s mother and father) translated into English or Portuguese with the appropriate Certification by Translator. • Bank statements from the last three months |
Please note:
NO EMPLOYMENT IN BRAZIL: The beneficiary of a visitor visa is prohibited from engaging in paid employment in Brazil. Not valid for paid work in Brazil.
STOPOVERS AND TRANSIT: No visa is required for stopovers or connections in Brazilian airports, provided that the visitor does not leave the
international transit area. If the traveler is going to leave the international transit area, a visit visa is required.
THE SAME VISITOR VISA CAN BE USED FOR DIFFERENT PURPOSES:
A visitor visa can be used for different purposes, in the same trip or in different occasions, provided the purposes are covered by the visitor visa
rules listed above. Example: you can apply for a visitor visa for a tourist visit and, in the future, use the same visa for a business trip; or you can do
business and tourism in the same trip.
