VITEM V – Work
Foreign citizens travelling to Brazil under an employment contract or to perform technical assistance/emergency work must hold a temporary work visa
Authorization from the Ministry of Labor is mandatory for the VITEM V visa. The application process is initiated by the sponsoring company in Brazil. Once approved in Brazil, the authorization will be sent to the Consulate. Only after approval by the Ministry of Labor may the applicant submit his/her VITEM V application and all required documents listed below.
- Original passport (signed, valid up to the end of Brazil trip, with at least 2 visa blank pages)
- Proof of residence in the U.S. (copy of visa or Green Card) for non-U.S. citizens
- Proof of residence in consular jurisdiction (copy of a valid driver's license or utility bill will be accepted as proof of residence)

- Passport-style photo (2”x 2”, white background) - USPS money order - see visa fees here
- Birth Certificate (original and one copy) - FBI Background Check (issued within the past 60 days)
- Flight confirmation (purchased ticket showing entrance into and exit from Brazil) or printed bank statements from the past three months showing adequate funds for international travel
- Extra USPS Priority Express envelope, pre-paid and self-addressed (this will be used to mail your passport back to you)
The requirements listed above are not all-inclusive. Additional documents may be requested at the discretion of the Consular Authority.
