VITEM IV – Studies

Grade School, Undergraduate, Graduate, Language Courses, Exchange Programs
(More than 90 days)

Note: If your program will last for fewer than 90 days, you may enter Brazil on a Visitor Visa (VIVIS)

- Original passport (signed, valid up to the end of Brazil trip, with at least 2 ]visa blank pages)
- Proof of residence in the U.S. (copy of visa or Green Card) for non-U.S. citizens
- Proof of residence in consular jurisdiction (copy of a valid driver's license or utility bill will be accepted as proof of residence)

- Passport-style photo (2”x 2”, white background)
- USPS money order - see visa fees here      Fulbright Program participants are exempt from this requirement
- Birth Certificate (original and one copy)
- FBI Background Check (issued within the past 60 days)    Fulbright Program participants are exempt from this requirement.   Minors (younger than 18 years of age at time of application) are exempt from this requirement. Check Visa Requirements for Minors page.

- Proof of enrollment in accredited foreign university or other accredited institution of higher learning, if applicable
- Proof of enrollment in Brazilian university or other accredited institution of higher learning in which applicant will complete his/her program.  Must state applicant’s name, duration of program, and guarantee of a minimum of 15 hours of academic instruction per week.
- Proof of adequate funds for the duration of applicant’s stay in Brazil Checking/savings account balances, lines of credit, affidavit of financial sponsorship by parents/sponsor(s), scholarship awards, etc.
- Extra USPS Priority Express envelope, pre-paid and self-addressed (this will be used to mail your passport back to you)

- FULBRIGHT applicants only: please present grant authorization letter from Fulbright Commission
