TEMPORARY VISA - RELIGIOUS ACTIVITY
Qualified applicants:
Clergymen and missionaries with theological or academic religious education who intend to go to Brazil for religious purposes.
Please be advised that Temporary visas may be granted to applicants who intend to establish temporary residence (for more than 90 days). If you intend to stay in Brazil for less than 90 days, you must apply for a Visit Visa.
General Requirements:
1. PASSPORT: Signed, valid up to the end of your trip, and with at least one visa blank page available (amendment pages are not accepted).
2. Visa Application Form at the link https://formulario-mre.serpro.gov.br/sci/pages/web/ui/#/servicos-estrangeiros. One per applicant, completely filled out online and signed by the passport holder or his/her parents/guardians. You will need to print only the receipt page with the bar code.
3. PHOTO: One recent 2” x 2” passport-photo size, front view, white background.
4. Evidence of INCOME: Proof of financial capability during the stay in Brazil (i.e., copy of bank/credit card statements or paychecks/paystubs).
5. Evidence of LEGAL STAY IN THE U.S.: copy of the green card or valid visa.

From the applicant:
1) Birth certificate.
2) Notarized certificate of theological or academic religious education indicating assignment as a clergyman, apostilled by the competent authorities;
3) FBI Background Check issued within the last 3 months (request may be submitted to an FBI-approved Channeler);
4) “Curriculum-Vitae” (résumé).
5) Notarized and signed “statement of commitment” stating that the applicant will not engage in any activity within indigenous areas without the proper authorization from FUNAI (National Indian Foundation).
6) Copy of the US Alien Resident Card for foreign residents or a valid visa
7) Copy of marriage certificate and birth certificate of dependents, if spouse and/or dependent will accompany applicant. We recommend all these documents be legalized by the Consulate.
8) Proof of residence within the consular jurisdiction (New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania) for the past 12 months (i.e., driver’s license, educational institution notarized, utility bill or voter's registration).
From the Religious Institution in Brazil:
1) Notarized copy of Act of Establishment of the Institution in Brazil.
2) Notarized letter of invitation from the Institution in Brazil, signed by its legal representative, assuring lodging and financial support for the intended applicant and members of his/her accompanying family, and assuming full responsibility for the departure of the clergyman and his/her family from Brazil.
3) Notarized letter from the Institution in the United States attesting eligibility of the applicant, stating length of stay, place and type of work that will be performed in Brazil.

Other Nationalities: USD 100.00
Notes:
VITEM VII will be issued for a maximum of one year, though they may be extended in Brazil by the Federal Police. Extensions must be requested at least 30 days prior to the expiration of the visa.
Visas are good for multiple entries.
If planned stay exceeds 30 days, visitors must register with the Federal Police in Brazil within 30 days upon arriving in the country.
Additional documents may be requested at the Consular Authority’s discretion.
