MAIL - STEP BY STEP
Applicants must fulfill all prerequisites and obtain necessary validation at the E-Consular Platform prior to scheduling a mandatory in-person appointment to submit documents at this Consulate.
All visa documentation must be presented in person.
Only in exceptional circumstances, with prior written authorization obtained from the Consulate via email (visa.novayork@itamaraty.gov.br), documents may be submitted via USPS Express Mail. A self-addressed, prepaid USPS Express Mail envelope must be included for the return of the documents.
STEP-BY-STEP
1) Prior Document Review
- All visa applications must have their supporting documentation reviewed and validated by consular authorities before submission.
- Access the E-CONSULAR PLATFORM to upload your documentation (https://ec-novayork.itamaraty.gov.br/).
- Do not mail any documents until they have been validated on the E-Consular Platform.
2) Target Audience and Processing Time
- Visa services at this Consulate are exclusively available to residents of New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania, as well as the Bermuda Islands. If you reside outside our jurisdiction, please contact the Brazilian Consulate nearest to your location.
- Processing time: Up to 15 days
3) Consular Fee Payment
- Consular fee payment method: USPS Money Order only.
- Cash, checks, credit cards, and money orders from issuers other than USPS are NOT accepted.
- Money Order Instructions:
- In the "Pay to" field of the money order, enter "Consulate General of Brazil."
- In the "From" and "Address" fields (the latter located below "From"), enter your full name and address.
Important:
- Submit one USPS money order for each service requested.
4) TO WHICH ADDRESS SHOULD I SEND THE REQUEST?
USPS Priority EXPRESS envelopes should be mailed to the following recipient:

5) HOW DO I SEND MY REQUEST BY MAIL?
This Consulate General only accepts USPS Priority EXPRESS prepaid and self-addressed envelopes.
Please make sure you send also a return USPS Priority EXPRESS envelope.
RETURN ENVELOPE: the Return envelope must be prepaid USPS Priority EXPRESS and self-addressed for return.
SHIPPING ENVELOPE: The shipping envelope must contain the application's original documentation and the return USPS Priority EXPRESS envelope.
IMPORTANT!
Documents sent without a pre-paid USPS Priority EXPRESS return envelope will not be processed.
The tracking number is very important, so make sure you have the tracking number of both envelopes.
