VITEM XIV - digital nomad
a) General Rules
A “digital nomad” is such considered if the applicant can work for a foreign employee while in Brazil, using information technology to perform his functions remotely. If the applicant works for a company in Brazil, this visa cannot be requested.
Within 30 days of entry in Brazil, holders of this type of visa must register at the Federal Police (click here) and submit a copy of the visa application form provided by this Consulate.
b) Length of stay in Brazil: up to 1 year.
Visa requirements may be changed without prior notice.
c) Required documents

A valid passport with at least one blank double page. Poorly maintained or damaged passports will not be accepted;

- Click "SEND" to receive your processing number and receipt. - Print the receipt. - Attach your photograph - Sign the receipt. |
3 | One photo. The photo must be recent, against white background, in the local standard specifications (3.5 x 4.5 cm). |
4 | In the case of a previous stay in Brazil, bring a copy of the pages of the previous passport containing the last two entries (page of identification, visa and entry and exit stamps from Brazil). This copy will not be necessary if the stay was carried out using a current passport. If your passport is lost or returned, please provide the reason and details of previous stays; |
5 | Travel insurance, including medical insurance, valid in Brazil (it must clearly indicate it is valid in Brazil, or Worldwide); |

Proof of being a digital nomad (MUST present all three): - Declaration of the applicant who attests to the ability to perform his/her professional activities remotely, through information and communication technologies (in English or Portuguese). *This document must bear the apostille. In order to get the apostille, first have the signature legalized at any public notary (kosho yakuba). - Employment contract, or contract for provision of services, with a notarized letter from the employer in Japan, stating the applicant’s full name and functions in the organization, as well as a statement in which the employer attest that all functions of the employee can be performed remotely in Brazil. - Proof of means of subsistence, in a monthly amount equal to or greater than USD 1,500.00 (one thousand five hundred U.S. dollars) OR availability of bank funds in the amount of USD 18,000.00 (eighteen thousand U.S. dollars).

negative criminal record certificate issued by all countries where the applicant has resided in the last 12 (twelve) months. The certificate must be issued less than 3 months before the visa application date;* * if issued in Japan, request it from the province's central police (the envelope cannot be opened by the interested party. Deliver it sealed); * if issued outside Japan, the certificate must be apostilled by a competent authority in the country issuing the certificate. If the issuing country is not party to the Apostille Convention, the certificate must be legalized by the competent Brazilian consular office. The certificate must be translated into Portuguese or English whenever it was not originally issued in Portuguese, English, French or Spanish. In these cases, the translator's name and signature must be indicated, with a declaration that the translator is responsible for the translation.

9 | Proof of booking a ticket to Brazil and, when there is a scheduled return date, proof of booking a ticket for the return trip; |
10 | when the visa is requested by nationals of countries other than Japan, a front and back copy of the “Residence Card” must be presented; |

consular fee: check the Table of Consular Fees; *The fee amount will be different for nationals of certain countries due to reciprocity. *Fees are not refundable in cases where visas are denied, not granted, or when a request already in processing is withdrawn.

Comments:
1. receipt of the visa application does not necessarily imply its issuance;
2. the Consulate General may request additional documents or information and/or personal appearance, when deemed necessary;
3. the visa must be used to enter Brazil before its validity expires;
4. The applicant must bring a copy of the visa form to Brazil, which will be delivered together with the passport, for the purpose of registering residence with the Federal Police within 90 days after entering Brazil. The period of residence in Brazil, of up to 1 (one) year, will be granted upon registration with the Federal Police;
*The form must be signed by the applicant himself, just like the passport. If the passport was signed in Kanji, also sign in cursive Roman script.
5. the entry visa only constitutes an expectation of rights. The foreigner's entry and stay in Brazil will be at the discretion of the Brazilian Federal Police;
