VITEM I may be granted to applicants going to Brazil for a stay of more than 90 days, not having employment ties to Brazilian research or teaching institutions, under the following conditions:

Professors supported by an institution in their country of origin, under the terms of agreement between the interested Brazilian higher education institution and the foreign higher education or research institution;

Recipients of scholarships granted by support foundations (CNPq, Capes, Finep etc.) to higher education, scientific and technological research institutions, for conducting research at a Brazilian higher education institution;

Participants in research, teaching or academic extension projects established between a Brazilian scientific or technological institution, support foundation or teaching and research institutions and foreign institutions;

Subscribers to a PhD program.
Besides the documents mentioned in the visa application requirements section, the following ones must be presented:

Police clearance certificate;

Proof of ties to the institution in the country of origin;

Invitation letter from the Brazilian institution, with reference to the conditions of the stay, the activity to be developed, the intended period and a statement that the applicant will not have employment ties to the Brazilian institute;

Statement issued by the institution responsible for financing the scholarship, followed by a signed Term of Commitment.
VIVIS may be granted for stays of less than 90 days.
