WORK - VOLUNTARY (VITEM - VIII)
General rules
• Based on Normative Resolution RN 15/2017 (Portuguese only).
• Foreign citizens must have this type of visa when travelling to Brazil to do voluntary work
(activities undertaken on behalf of religious entities, charitable organizations and non-profit
organizations – NGOs and organizations linked to a foreign government - that do not
constitute employment of any form, paid or unpaid, under an employment contract or not).
• This visa requires proof of residence in India.
• Nationals of Austria, Chile, Colombia, Finland, France, Germany, Iceland, Paraguay, Peru,
Philippines, Poland, Spain, Suriname, The Netherlands, Trinidad and Tobago, and the United
Kingdom are exempt from this visa for stays up to 90 days.
• This visa requires approval from the Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, although it should be
applied at the Consulate;
• For voluntary work with duration of up to 90 days, the applicant must request a Visitor Visa (VIVIS);
• Within 90 days of entry in Brazil, holders of this type of visa must register at the Federal Police
and submit a copy of the visa application form provided by this Consulate.
Length of stay in Brazil
Up to 2 years, not extendable.

- Proof of financial capability
- Proof of professional experience or qualification compatible with the work to be carried out; Only required if the activities the volunteer will carry out demand specific knowledge and experience (e.g. nursing, elderly care etc.)
- Certified copy of up-to-date registration with the respective National, State, Federal District or Municipal Social Welfare Council; Or another document attesting the institution's qualification as a charitable organisation (Organisação da Sociedade Civil de Interesse Público - Oscip), issued by the Brazilian Ministry of Justice.
- Certified copy of evidence that the Brazilian Institution is fully functional; This is usually a certification issued by the City Council in Brazil (Prefeitura)
- Police Clearance Certificate
- Payment receipt
