PRE-APPROVED WORK VISA (VITEM - V)
Application to be submitted by the Brazilian company to the Brazilian Ministry of Labor.
- Work under a Brazilian-ruled employment contract approved by the Ministry of Labor;
- Local provision of services of any nature, including technical assistance and technology
transfer;
- Provision of services to a Brazilian government agency/organization under a contract or an
international agreement;
- Employees of foreign corporations to work as trainees or interns at their subsidiaries in Brazil,
as well as intra-company or intra-conglomerate professional training or professional exchange
program;
- Post graduate students seeking short term professional training during school holidays or
vacation, without a formal employment relationship with a Brazilian company;
- Scientists, researchers, professors, technicians to work with public or private entities,
educational entities or science/technology entities;
- Instructors or professors traveling to Brazil to teach a foreign language;
- Professional athletes;
- Crew member of a foreign tourism vessel operating in Brazilian waters, without local contract;
- Crew member of fishing vessel operating in Brazilian waters, chartered by a Brazilian
company;
- Crew member of vessel or platform operating in Brazilian waters as the result of a lease
contract with a Brazilian company;
- Professionals without a work contract with a Brazilian company travelling to Brazil to perform
studies and/or research regarding the preparation of bidding proposals for train lines.
ALL WORK VISA APPLICATIONS MUST BE SUBMITTED IN BRAZIL BY THE BRAZILIAN COMPANY. THE CONSULATE WILL ONLY ISSUE VISAS PRE-APPROVED BY THE MINISTRY OF LABOR.
- The application procedure is initiated in Brazil by the Brazilian sponsoring company with submission of the pertinent application and supporting documents to the Brazilian Ministry of Labor.
- Within 90 days of entry in Brazil, holders of this type of visa must register at the Federal Police and submit a copy of the visa application form provided by this Consulate.
Required documents
- Letter from the applicant's employer, informing the applicant's personal details (including home addresses of the past 12 months) and professional background. In India, the employer must have her or his signature authenticated by a Regional Authentication Centre. The document must be legalised or apostilled (as applicable), if issued outside Maharashtra, Karnataka or Goa
- Employment contract, containing the place and date of issue. If: a) between the applicant and a Brazilian company: the contract must be notarised in Brazil ("reconhecimento de firma") and the original document must be sent to the applicant, so that he or she may present it to the consular authority when applying for the visa; b) between the applicant and an Indian company: the employer must have her or his signature authenticated by a Regional Authentication Centre. The document must be legalised or apostilled (as applicable), if issued outside Maharashtra, Karnataka or Goa
- Letter from the inviting company in Brazil, if applicable.
- Police Clearance Certificate. The document must be legalised or apostilled (as applicable), if issued outside Maharashtra, Karnataka or Goa.

Length of stay in Brazil
Granted period: up to 2 years, depending on nature of work.
Validity: 1 year. This means that the applicant must use the visa within 1 year from date of issue before expiration.
