FAMILY REUNION AND DEPENDENT VISA (VITEM - XI)
People accompanying their spouse/family member(s) who are going to Brazil on a long term visa (VITEM – I, IV, V,VII) OR people going to meet their family member(s) in Brazil who are RNE card holders/Brazilian Citizens
Required documents
- Invitation letter. There is no single model for invitation letters, but some items are necessary, such as: complete name of the applicant, nationality, purpose of the trip and intended period of stay. The letter must be notarised in Brazil and the original document must be sent to the applicant, so that he or she may present it to the consular authority when applying for the visa
- Photo ID (e.g., passport) of the inviting person. If the person is in Brazil, a certified copy of the document (notarised in Brazil and posted to the applicant) may be accepted
- If a) married to a Brazilian national; or b) married to a foreign national who is already the beneficiary of a residence permit in Brazil; or c) married to a foreign national who is obtaining a temporary visa (VITEM) to Brazil and wish to travel as his/her dependant: original full form marriage certificate. A foreign marriage certificate must be legalised or apostilled (as applicable), if issued outside Maharashtra, Karnataka or Goa
- If a) married to a Brazilian national; or b) married to a foreign national who is already the beneficiary of a residence permit in Brazil; or c) married to a foreign national who is obtaining a temporary visa (VITEM) to Brazil and wish to travel as his/her dependant: both the applicant and the spouse must sign the declaration, under penalty of perjury of law, stating that they are a couple in a factual and legitimate union, and that they already reside or are planning to reside in Brazil. The declaration must be signed in person at the Consulate General of Brazil in Mumbai, before the consular agent. Alternatively, the signature may be certified by a notary public in Brazil and posted to the applicant
