Certificate of Legal Residence

Please note: this service is provided exclusively via the e-consular platform, form “Atestado de residência”. Please do not send any correspondence or visit the Consulate before receiving an email validating your request and providing instructions on how to mail your request or make an appointment.

Brazilian citizens or foreigners holding a valid Brazilian permanent resident card (RNE - Registro Nacional de Estrangeiros) can obtain a certificate to prove his/her legal residence in Canada.

For other foreign nationals, the certificate must be requested at his/her local Government office and sent to the Consulate for legalization.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Legal Residence request form, filled up and signed.
• Valid Brazilian passport or identity card (RG) - original and copy.
• If applicable, a valid RNE - original and copy.
• Proof of legal residence: Canadian visa, rental agreements, income tax receipt, phone or hydro bills - original and copy.
• A photocopy of the applicant’s passport showing the date of entrance in the country.
