Brazilian Passport
Please note: this service is provided exclusively via the e-consular platform. Please do not send any correspondence or visit the Consulate before receiving an email validating your request and providing instructions on how to mail your request or make an appointment.
- Important Notice: If you try to access the online application form and you receive a security warning, please be advise that the website you are redirected to is a secure website. The security certificate is issued by the Brazilian governmental company responsible for the software used by the Brazilian Government. You can click on continue to this website to access the passport online form.
- The Consulate General does not issue visas to Brazilian citizens.
- Passport applications submitted in person or by mail will be valid for a maximum of 10 years for applicants over 18 years old.

1. PASSPORT APPLICATION FOR ADULTS:
- Completed Travel Application Form. The receipt page must be signed and dated.
- Access the e-consular platform (https://ec-montreal.itamaraty.gov.br/) and submit all documents required:
- Old/expired passport;
- Original and copy of the Brazilian Identity Card and/or Brazilian Birth Certificate;
- 1 (one) picture, 5x7cm (white background with full front view of head and shoulders, without any strips on the upper and lower sides). The picture does not need to be signed;
- Proof of Legal Status concerning the voter's obligation.
- For males only: original and copy of the military registration certificate for males between 18 and 45 years-old. For foreign nationals who have obtained the Brazilian citizenship, the military certificate is required at any age after the citizenship is granted. Please check Military Registration for more information.
- For passport replacements (for lost/stolen/damaged passports), a copy of the Police Report is necessary (for lost or stolen passports) and a Lost/Stolen/Damaged Passport Form must be filled out and signed by the applicant.

2. PASSPORT APPLICATIONS FOR CHILDREN UNDER 18 YEARS-OLD:
- Completed Passport Application Form. The receipt page generated must be signed by both parents or legal guardians.
- Access the e-consular platform (https://ec-montreal.itamaraty.gov.br/) and submit all documents required:
- Passport Application Authorization for Minors form signed by both parents or legal guardians. If the application is submitted by mail, the form must be signed before a notary public.
- Old/expired passport (if applicable);
- Original and copy of the Brazilian Birth Certificate*;
- 1 (one) picture, 5x7cm, (white background with full front view of head and shoulders, without any strips on the upper and lower sides). The pictures do not need to be signed.
- Original and copy of both parents or legal guardian's identification documents (passports or ID).
*If the child does not hold a Brazilian birth certificate, please apply for one before submitting the passport application. For information on birth certificates, click here.

How to pay:
Please pay the exact amount.
- We only accept payment by debit card (Interac - at counter), money order or certified cheque (obtained from Canada Post or your local bank), made payable to the "Consulate General of Brazil". Please write down the name of the applicant(s) on the reference line of the check or money order (first and last names). Note that we process a large number of applications everyday. Thus, your certified check or money order should be easily indefinable.
- We do not accept payments in cash, personal cheque or credit card.
- Payment must be in Canadian funds only.
- You must provide a prepaid pre-addressed return envelope purchased from Canada Post (XpressPost or Priority envelopes). A "return envelope" is a pre-addressed, smaller envelope included as the contents of a larger envelope.
- Make sure you have both tracking numbers for your own control.
- Due to the high volume of correspondence that we receive daily, we are unable to confirm or acknowledge receipt of documents. We cannot confirm dispatch of envelopes either. Please track your envelopes directly through the website of Canada Post.
