Postal service request instructions
Services provided by post have been resumed. Processing may take up to 20 working days.
Attention! Passport requests with incomplete documentation will be immediately returned to the sender.
1) Check whether the service may be requested by post: check on the website - page of the service you require - whether the document may be requested by post (some can only be done in person).
2) Check whether you have collected all necessary documentation.
3) Prepare two Special Delivery envelopes: the Consulate General only accepts mail received in pre-paid Special Delivery envelopes. The applicant must purchase two of them: one envelope to send the application to the Consulate, and another for the Consulate to return the requested document (the return envelope must also be pre-paid and self-addressed - write down the applicant's full name and address on the envelope). Franked mail envelopes with a specific return date are not accepted.
- Applications made by the same family: only a maximum or four applications for the same family – head of family and minor children - shall be processed if sent as a bundle. Applications containing more than four members of the same family must be split into more envelopes.
- Requesting different types of documents: in this case, the applicant must send separate envelopes for each service requested, filling in the envelopes and service request forms accordingly.
4) Write on the envelope which department it is addressed to: next to the address, please write down which department you are sending the request for: "C/O Passport", "C/O Legalisation”, “C/O Notary Public”, “C/O Visa”. Inside, along with your documents, please specify the service you are requiring.
5) Please refer to the images below for instructions on how to fill in the Special Delivery envelopes for sending and returning documents:
6) How to track your parcel: the Special Delivery envelope contains a tracking number which the applicant should write down and keep in case they need to check whether the envelope has been delivered to the Consulate General or not.
Click here to check with Royal Mail if your submission envelope has reached the Consulate or if your return envelope has already been dispatched to your address. You will need the tracking numbers (9-21 characters each).
