Important information
- Passports will not have their validity reduced if the applicant has not registered their fingerprints at the Consulate.
- The new passport may be requested at any time, and there is no need to wait for the current passport to expire.
- It is recommended that nationals of Brazil enter and leave the country with a Brazilian passport.
- It is the citizen's responsibility to check if their passport is valid. The validity of a passport is never extended.
- Brazilian passport holders are not allowed to enter the 26 countries of the Schengen area if the validity of their passport is inferior to 3 months on the date they are expected to leave the territory of the member country. In this case, airline companies and airport authorities can prevent the passenger from boarding and deny entry in the final destination.
- Denial to board due to insufficient validity does not constitute a valid reason for the Consulate to process a new emergency travel document.

In case of loss or theft of a minor's passport, the parents must also submit a Consent for passport to minor children.
Both parents must complete the consent for passport to minor children form, as well as the travel authorisation for minor children form (click here). Whilst the consent for passport to minor children (form on the left) is mandatory, registering the travel authorisation in the minor child's passport (form on the right) is optional. Please read the instructions listed after this table to learn more about travel authorisation for minor children. Parents must bring the completed form(s) to the appointment- NOT signed, the child's Brazilian birth certificate (or identity card), and also their own valid Brazilian photo IDs (e.g. passport or identity card). If the parents are unable to be present at the Consulate, their signatures on the form(s) must be authenticated, in person, by a solicitor or notary public. The document must then be apostilled by the FCDO (click here). A single FCO apostille for the document containing all four signatures will be sufficient: two for the passport consent (both parents) and two for the travel authorisation (both parents). |
