The document will have to be previously legalised (get an apostille), except those issued in France, which do not have to go though additional procedures. For documents issued in other countries, consult the Brazilian Consulate with jurisdiction over the place of issue and check the necessary procedures (click here).
In case the document is not drawn up in Portuguese, English, Spanish, or French, an official translation (sworn or qualified translation) must also be provided.
In order to avoid having to present a translation, it is recommended to submit documents in the international model, which contain information in English (e.g. birth certificate in the "Formula/Formule/Formblatt/Formulaz A" model, valid in countries of the European Union).
