If the birth has been registered elsewhere other than the United Kingdom, depending on the country, the birth certificate must previously receive the apostille of that country's competent authority or be legalised by the Brazilian representation with jurisdiction over the place where the document was issued.
In such cases, the declarant (parent or legal guardian) will also have to present the original (or certified copy) and a photocopy of a document attesting that they live in the United Kingdom. If the birth certificate is drawn up in an idiom other than Portuguese, Spanish, French or English, an official translation of the document into Portuguese or English must be provided.
