Birth registration for those over 16
GENERAL INFORMATION
In the case of registration of a person over 18 years of age, the following must attend the Consulate General at the time of registration:
1 - The registrant, who will be the declarant of the birth and will sign the registration form;
2 - Two WITNESSES, of legal age and capacity, PREFERABLY Brazilians, who may be relatives of any degree of the registrant, who must sign the registration form.
It is recommended that you use a cell phone or computer with a scanner to fill in the following forms, as you will need to send images (or photos) of documents.
Photos or documents scanned by cell phone should be clear, only the document should appear, do not photograph other objects.
REQUIRED DOCUMENTATION
1 - Application form for birth registration.
2 - Original and copy of the birth registration certificate.
- If the certificate was issued in a country other than Turkey, the certificate will need to be apostilled (if it was issued in a country that is a member of the Apostille Convention), or legalized by a Brazilian consular office in the country that issued the document (if the country is not a member of the Apostille Convention).
- If the certificate is in a language other than English, Portuguese, French, Spanish or Italian, it must be translated by an official translator.
3 - Original and copy of both parents' identity documents. Brazilian parents must present a Brazilian document. Foreign parents must present a foreign passport.
4 - Original and copy of the birth certificate of the child's parents to verify the name of the grandparents;
5 - Original and copy of the parents' Brazilian marriage certificate, if any;
- if one of the parents is a foreigner and there is no Brazilian marriage certificate, the foreign father must present a birth certificate containing the names of his parents. Observe the same instructions as above in the case of a certificate issued in a country other than Turkey.
Please note: the name of the parents on the consular birth registration cannot be different from the one on the Brazilian marriage or birth certificate, even if the composition of the name on the child's foreign birth certificate is different. In order for the registration to be authorized, it will be up to the interested parties, through the presentation of official documents, to prove that the different names identify the same person.
6 - Original and copy of the witnesses' identification document: both witnesses must present a valid Brazilian passport, if Brazilian, or a valid foreign passport; or another valid official identification document with a photo.
7 - Original and copy of the registrant's identification document: the registrant must present a passport or any other foreign identification document with a photo.
Cost: the consular birth registration and the first duplicate of the certificate are free of charge.
