Passport for those under 18
GENERAL INFORMATION
A Brazilian birth certificate is required to apply for a passport. For details on birth registration, click here.
Minors under the age of 12 do not need to go to the Consulate. Minors aged between 12 and 18 must go to the Consulate to have their fingerprints taken.
It is advisable to keep a photocopy of your passport in case it is lost, stolen, etc.
When you receive your new passport, check that all the details are correct. Any errors for which the applicant is responsible will result in a new document being issued, the cost of which will be charged to the applicant.
To avoid mishaps, bear in mind that many countries require you to present a passport valid for at least six months to enter the country. Therefore, always try to apply for a new passport in advance, preferably before it expires.
REQUIRED DOCUMENTATION

If one of the parents is unable to attend the Consulate to sign the form, the signature must be recognised as follows:
a) If one or both parents are in Brazil, notarise the signature;
b) If one or both parents are in Turkey and cannot come to the Consulate, notarise the passport authorisation document ("muvafakatname") at a Turkish notary's office;
c) If one or both parents are in a third country other than Brazil or Turkey, they should follow the instructions for notarisation at the nearest Brazilian Consulate or Embassy, or have their signature notarised at a local notary's office and then have it legalised/apostilled and translated.
7 - Proof of deposit: 40 USD (if the minor is under 4 years old) or 80 USD (if the minor is between 4 and 18 years old);
To find out how to pay click here.
8 - If your passport is lost, stolen or misplaced, a police report must be registered at the local police station. The police report is essential to avoid fraudulent use of the passport by third parties. If it is not possible to obtain a police report, fill in and sign the lost/stolen or misplaced travel document form.
