CPF for foreigners
GENERAL INFORMATION
The Individual Taxpayer Registration (CPF) is issued free of charge. Foreigners abroad must request the service through the e-Consular system and appear in person at the Consulate General of Brazil in Istanbul on the scheduled date (see documentation below).
Citizens of any age who own or wish to own, in Brazil, assets and rights subject to public registration, including real estate, vehicles, boats, aircraft, shareholdings, bank accounts or investments in the financial market, must register for CPF.
The CPF number is assigned only once (unique and definitive), without the possibility of a second registration. It will be generated at the time of issue and will appear on the receipt that will be given to the applicant. The number should be kept in a safe place and memorized, as no "CPF card" is issued.
If you have forgotten your CPF number, you will have to apply for it in Brazil, at the Receita Federal, because due to tax secrecy, this problem cannot be solved at the Consulate. If necessary, the request can be made by a representative of the person concerned in Brazil, by power of attorney. Further information can be obtained by e-mail: cpf.residente.exterior@rfb.gov.br
