Declaration of marital status
GENERAL INFORMATION
The Consular Declaration of Civil Status is a document that can be issued by the Consulate, among other purposes, to prove civil status and formalise marriages.
Attention: marriages of Brazilians celebrated by foreign authorities are considered valid under Brazilian law. Therefore, a Brazilian citizen who has married abroad will also be considered married in Brazil. If they claim to be single, they will commit the offence of ideological falsehood and, if they marry again, they will commit the offence of bigamy, both of which are defined in the Brazilian Penal Code. In such cases, all acts resulting from the false testimony may be cancelled.
It is recommended that you use a mobile phone or computer with a scanner to fill in the following forms, as you will need to send images (or photos) of documents.
Photos or documents scanned by mobile phone should be clear, only the document should appear, do not photograph other objects.
