CPF for non-Brazilian citizens

The CPF is the equivalent of the USA Social Security number.
It is recommended that non-Brazilian citizens who intend to live, study or work in Brazil, have or will have business in Brazil or are married to a Brazilian citizen obtain a CPF number, which is required for several situations in Brazil, such as opening a bank account, making financial operations, buying/selling of properties and other legal matters.
How to request a CPF number ( In-person non-Brazilian citizens only)
- Prepare the documentation (see list below):
- CPF registration form (FCPF);
- A photo ID showing the applicant's full name, date and place of birth and nationality (example: passport or RNE/CRNM);
- Minors under 16 years of age, must also present a document showing their parents' names (e.g.: birth certificate) and appear in person at the Consulate accompanied by their parents or legal guardians (parents or legal guardians must present their photo IDs).
Note: all birth/marriage certificates issued outside of Brazil or the United States must have the Apostille (or be legalized at an Embassy/Consulate of Brazil when issued by a country that is not part of the Apostille convention).
2. Fill out the CPF registration form (FCPF) below, click on "submit" and print the generated document:

Tips:
- Non-Brazilian citizens must not fill out the field "Título de Eleitor".
- The pop-up blocker must be disabled; otherwise, it will not be possible to submit the request.
- After clicking "submit", a CPF registration form (FCPF) will be generated containing a service code.
3. Once you are ready to apply, send an email to request an appointment to:
